Willow Smith Shaved Head Shocks Fans (VIDEO)

"Willow Smith shaved head" isn't something fans of the singer famous for the whipping her hair back and forth were likely expecting to hear.

Though, that is exactly what they did hear when the young entertainer unveiled the new look on her WhoSay page.

At just 11, Smith, the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, shocked fans by sporting the significantly different look.

It is unclear what prompted the move to go from long hair to no hair.

Smith, however, is not the only celebrity to go bald by choice recently. Cynthia Nixon also decided to rock a new bald look, which she unveiled last week.

Nixon got the new look for her role in the Broadway show, "Wit."

"I was always kind of curious to see what it would be like. I like it; I don't think I'm gonna keep it forever," Nixon said on "Live With Kelly."

Nixon plays a poetry professor stricken with cancer in "Wit." The bald look is meant to reflect the loss of hair associated with cancer treatment.

Other celebrities have decided to go bald before – though typically it has always been for a role.

Demi Moore shaved her head for her role in "G.I. Jane." Cate Blanchett did the same for "Heaven." Natalie Portman took it off for "V for Vendetta," while Sigourney Weaver did the same for "Alien."

It's not clear what prompted Smith's recent move from braided locks to no hair, but she has been cutting her hair progressively shorter and shorter recently.

It is not clear how this new style will top future lists, but Smith previously said the afro topped her list of regrettable hair styles she's tried.

She said the style took too much time to make look good and she had to wake up early to comb it out, which sparked a change.
