'Winds of Winter' News: George R.R. Martin Releases New Chapter, Says Novel Still Not Finished

A new chapter of "Winds of Winter" was released in the point of view of Arianne Martell, but George R. R. Martin still has a long way to go before.

Since there has yet to be a release date for George R. R. Martin's newest novel "Winds of Winter," the author gave fans a sneak peek into the upcoming novel to make up for the wait.

Fans have been anticipating the release of 'Winds of Winter," as it was initially expected to release before the premiere of "Game of Thrones" season 6. However, Martin faced several delays due to his busy schedule. With that, there has yet to be a confirmed release date for the novel.

However, according to the writer's website, Martin recently released a chapter of "Winds of Winter" to satisfy fans are they wait for the new novel. Martin released it with the statement, "You want to know what the Sand Snakes, Prince Doran, Areo Hotah, Ellaria Sand, Darkstar, and the rest will be up to in Winds of Winter? Quite a lot, actually. The sample will give you a taste. For the rest, you will need to wait."

SMH notes that the chapter was in the perspective of Arianne Martell, who has yet to be introduced in the HBO series. In the chapter, she explains that she was determined to fulfill a mission for her father, who is the prince of Dorne. It revealed that Arianne was on her way to meet Jon Connington, another character that is not present in the HBO series.

While the release of the chapter could have been an indication that "Winds of Winter" was close to being finished, Martin explained that that was not the case. He warned fans that he still has a long way to go before finishing the novel. He said, "And no, just to spike any ... rumours, changing the sample chapter does NOT mean I am done. See the icon up above?" Martin wrote, referring to a picture of himself with a small primate perched upon him. Monkey is still on my back... but he's growing, he is, and one day..." per the LA Times.
