'Winds of Winter' Release Date: Co-Author Helping George R.R. Martin to Finish Book?

"The Winds of Winter" fans have been waiting for a long time for the book's release date, and now the latest rumors say writer George R.R. Martin is bringing in a co-author to help him finish the story.

Renowned fantasy author George R.R. Martin is keeping fans suspended over the release date of his upcoming book "The Winds of Winter" and they are hoping that it will come out before "Game of Thrones" season 6 premieres. Unfortunately, Martin previously announced that he might not be able to finish the book on time.

In his live journal, Martin explained that he initially thought that he would be able to finish the book on time, but he ended up disappointed in his failure to meet his 2015 timeline. However, he assured his fans that he will do his best to craft the story in the best way possible and he estimates the release to be three months after he finishes the manuscript, Vine Report says.

Martin is not getting any younger, and there may be times when he gets things mixed up. Rumor has it that the "The Winds of Winter" author may need a co-author because of the complication of the story, according to the Parent Herald.

Local outlets in New Mexico, U.S. have reported about the possibility of "The Sandman" and "Good Omens Bad Omens" author Neil Gaiman co-authoring "The Winds of Winter." The rumors were fanned all the more when the writer was spotted in the same area in New Mexico where Martin lives in, the report relays.

If the rumors prove to be true, then Gaiman's participation in "The Winds of Winter" will make the book even more fascinating. It will also increase the possibility of the book being released in 2017.

As of now, Gaiman's role as the co-author of "The Winds of Winter" is still unconfirmed. More details on George R.R. Martin's upcoming book, including its release date, are expected to surface in the coming months.
