'Winds of Winter' Book Delayed Anew as George R.R. Martin Focuses on New Film Studio Project
Since the fifth book in George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel series was released, fans have been anxiously waiting for the release of "The Winds of Winter." Since last year, rumors about the possible release date of the sixth book have surfaced but until today, Martin still has not given any word as to when he will launch the highly anticipated book.
According to recent reports, "The Winds of Winter" might be delayed anew due to the renowned author's new project. Aside from writing novels, Martin also keeps himself busy with other activities. Since 1996, he has been working on his best-selling novel series. He has also contributed a lot to the writing of the top-rated "Game of Thrones" series, and some speculate that this must be one of the reasons why it's taking him too long to finish the book.
Now, there are reports claiming that Martin has set aside his writing to focus on the launch of the Stagecoach Foundation project. The author is said to have recently received a 30,000-square-foot building as a donation to his new facility and nonprofit office. Located in Santa Fe, this new film studio will be dedicated to both established production companies and emerging filmmakers.
Now that Martin is busy with his new foundation, there are speculations that fans should not expect "The Winds of Winter" to be out anytime soon. Considering the author's long list of responsibilities, writing the sixth book will allegedly not be among his top priorities now.
As for the plot of the upcoming book, Martin revealed in a previous interview with IGN that he was planning to add a plot twist in the book, which will deviate from the "Game of Thrones" storyline. Despite the lack of updates on its official release date, there were also previous speculations that Martin will launch his new book on his 70th birthday next year.
