'Wipeout Omega Collection' Games Get June Launch, to Offer New Soundtrack and More
The very best of the hit racing video game franchise, "Wipeout," is coming to the PlayStation 4 (PS4) in the form of the "Wipeout Omega Collection."
The remastered compilation, which includes 2008 release "Wipeout HD," the 2009 expansion "Wipeout HD Fury" and the 2012 hit "Wipeout 2048," will be available on the PS4 on June 7.
"Wipeout Omega Collection" will give players the chance to experience these titles in 4K resolution and 60 frames per second (fps) on both the PS4 and the PS4 Pro.
"We have been able to take advantage of the power and memory bandwidth of PS4 to rework all textures in the game. Compared to the original games, textures are now clear when viewed up close: you can even read some of the small text on the ships for the first time," Sony describes the games.
"As well as a host of improved graphical effects we have also added in HDR which massively improves contrast to what was seen before," the publisher went on to say.
"Wipeout" should also sound "better than ever before" as the sound effects of the originals were also remastered to perfection in the "Wipeout Omega Collection."
Apart from the familiar superior-sounding tunes from the original games to pump gamers up, Sony is also treating buyers with additional 28 licensed music tracks by famous musical artists.
Fans can expect hits from Swedish House Mafia, Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy to accompany them during their supercharged racing endeavors.
Each game included in the "Wipeout Omega Collection" comes with its own career mode as well as a racebox mode, which allows players to tailor their own races to their liking.
The remastered collection should also allow players to race with as many as eight Anti Gravity Racing league pilots friends either via split screen local multiplayer or online (the latter requires PlayStation Plus membership).
"Wipeout Omega Collection" is now available for preorder. Those who purchase early will get an exclusive dynamic theme.
