'Wolverine 3' Movie Rumor: X-23 to be Introduced in Hugh Jackman's Final 'Wolverine' Movie?
As Hugh Jackman has announced that "Wolverine 3" will be the last time for him to portray the X-Men character he has been breathing life into for almost 20 years already, rumors and speculations that X-23, a popular comic book character, will be introduced in the last installment of the "Wolverine" movie have started surfacing.
This piece of unconfirmed news first reached Superhero Hype's knowledge, which reported it first. In the event that this rumor turns out to be true, then, it is very possible for "Wolverine 3" to kill off the Wolverine character along with Jackman's departure from the role. After all, X-23, apart from being a female, has a lot of characteristics that are the same with those of Wolverine.
It was in 2004 when X-23 made her debut in the comic books although she already appeared in the animated series "X-Men: Evolution" prior. The character has its origins from the group that tries to copy the Weapon X program that gave Logan/Wolverine his Adamantium skeleton. After 22 failed attempts, the group finally succeeds in cloning Wolverine, hence, the name X-23.
As she is a clone of Wolverine, X-23 possesses superhuman strength, reflexes, agility, and a healing factor, too. What sets her apart from the original is that she only has a pair of two emerging claws on both hands and one more for each of her feet. She is later given the name Laura Kinney.
Although it still remains unconfirmed, it is widely believed that "Wolverine 3" will adapt the "Old Man Logan" storyline from the comic books, wherein the X-Men character is portrayed in his old-age form in a post-apocalyptic setting. Speculations grew even louder after producer Simon Kinberg's said in an interview with Cinema Blend that the movie will, indeed, be set in the future.
With new speculation claiming that X-23 will be introduced in "Wolverine 3," fans of Jackman and his character itself can only wish to hear confirmation on the aforementioned reports, which, without a doubt, make them look forward to the movie even more.
