'Wolverine 3' News: Hugh Jackman Hints 'Berserker' and Sabretooth Appearance

Hugh Jackman, the star behind the iconic Wolverine of the X-Men, has already declared that the upcoming "Wolverine 3" will be his last portrayal of the mutant, saying that he will be hanging his "claws" up in playing the character. If his own pronouncements are true, he may be making this last appearance of his as a big deal to satisfy many Wolverine fans.

According to an IGN report, Jackman revealed a few interesting details about the upcoming film during a podcast. Given that he had previously asked fans for ideas on the next film through Twitter, he said during the podcast that some of the ideas that the fans threw at him just might come true.

The first of these ideas was connected to calls for Wolverine's archenemy to make a comeback appearance in the next film. Sabretooth, also known as Victor Creed, is an assassin and mercenary who is also a mutant with razor-sharp fangs and claws, superhuman senses and like Wolverine, he can heal rapidly. Jackman hinted, "There were a lot of calls for Victor Creed to come back."

The second idea has to do with a state that Wolverine, at least in the comic book series, is known for. Jackman said, "…if you're a comic book fan, the words 'berserker rage' came up a lot. If you know Wolverine, you'll understand." "Berserker rage" is a state in which the character "goes absolutely crazy, tossing all sense of moral conviction out the window." In his interview, Jackman seemed to hint that viewers may just see Wolverine in this state during the upcoming movie.

According to another report in Cinema Blend, this particularly happens when Wolverine is "locked in close combat," and it has its advantages, such as being resistant to psionic attacks or attacks that have to do with mind control.

James Mangold returns to helm the film – he directed the first film "The Wolverine." Jackman during Comic-Con also hinted that they are looking at the Old Man Logan plot from the comics. Patrick Stewart is said to return as Professor Charles Xavier.
