Woman Gets Life Sentence for Sending Hitmen to Husband, Mother-in-Law
A woman was sentenced to life in prison of Monday after she was convicted of ordering a hit man to kill her wealthy husband and elderly mother.
Narcy Novack, 56, of Fort Lauderdale was not present in the courtroom when the sentence was read as she had previously waived the right to appear as she did when the verdict was read in June. Novack's brother and co-defendant, Cristobal Veliz, was also sentenced to life in prison after being convicted on several charges.
The siblings were convicted of hiring hit men to kill Ben Novack Jr. in New York and his 86-year-old mother, Bernice Novack in her Florida home.

"Because of Ms. Novack's greed and her selfishness and what she thought was her ability to manipulate other people, there are two innocent people, her husband and her mother-in-law, who are dead," said Judge Kenneth Karas.
Ben Novack was the 53-year-old son of the man who built the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach.
During the trial, prosecutors argued that Narcy Novack thought her husband would divorce her, leaving her without access to the multimillion-dollar estate due to a prenuptial agreement that was signed.
Prosecutors then stated that she had her brother hire a group of men who testified they had beat Bernice Novack and Ben Novack to death.
The government stated throughout the trial that the sole motives were "hatred, greed and vengeance," according to court documents.
During his time on the stand, Veliz continually stated that he had nothing to do with any of the killings and even blamed Novack's daughter, May Abad, for his death. Abad's two sons are in line to inherit the majority of the family estate.
Narcy Novack did not testify during the trial and along with her brother, the pair was also convicted of domestic violence, stalking and money laundering.
