Woman Gives Birth to Own Grandson After Being Surrogate for Daughter

Linda Sirois is happy to be a grandmother again, after giving birth to her own grandson. Sirois volunteered to be a surrogate for her daughter who was diagnosed with a heart condition and gave birth on August 13.

The baby boy, named Madden, arrived kicking and screaming, much to the joy of his entire family. He is the product of mom Angel's egg and dad Brian's sperm, which was implanted into grandma Linda's uterus. She had offered for years to carry a child if it turned out that Angel and Brian were unable to have a successful pregnancy.

When they got the word last summer that it would not be healthy for Angel to carry a child, she immediately turned to her mom.

"It was pretty disappointing and we were pretty upset about it," Angel told The Portland Press Herald.

"But we kind of had an idea that it was a possibility, and all along, my mother was saying, 'I'm here and I can carry for you.' I guess we didn't really take her seriously. I called her last summer and I'm like, 'So, you know that offer you've been offering? Is that offer still on the table?'"

"I just saw it as I was babysitting for a few months," Linda explained. "It was their child all along. It was just a room for rent."

"It was an awesome, awesome experience," Linda added.

For the new mother, who was able to be in the room when Madden arrived via C-section, she echoed her mother. "It was awesome."

Now the new family is rejoicing in Madden's birth and watching his every move. He's "eating like a champ and he doesn't fuss too much," Angel told the Daily Mail. Of course, little Madden has a unique story to tell of just how much his family wanted him.
