Woman's Torso at BJ Headquarters: Shipped to Wrong Address

BJ's warehouse is thought to carry everything, and now at least one location in Massachusetts has a woman's torso among its products. The body was accidentally shipped to the store's headquarters instead of a research facility in Florida.

"Somehow the packing label got it to their address in Westborough," Sgt. Kalagher told CBS. As workers sorted through packages shipped to their warehouse, one noticed the unique description of a box. He didn't open it at the time, though.

"They started opening the package [later] and they saw the description of what they were opening, that it was a torso of a female. They never saw the torso. They saw there was some packaging and some type of gel. They immediately notified their supervisor," Kalagher explained.

"It was just a misdirected package," Sgt. Glenn McLeod told the Milford Daily News. "They saw it was a medical research [package] and knew it was not for them."

BJ's then contacted the research facility, which made arrangements to pick up the body and have it reshipped to its location. Sadly this is not the first time human remains have been sent to the wrong address. In 2007, a human head and liver were received by a couple in Michigan.

The parts were actually meant to go to a laboratory but wound up at the couple's home. They had been sent from China, which may have led to confusion, the delivery company DHL told the Grand Rapids Press paper. At that time, the BBC reported, up to 28 body parts could have been sent throughout the country.

"There will definitely be a shock to people if they see these things, but there is no hazard to health," police spokesman Roger Parent told the Grand Rapids Press.

BJ's is a wholesale company with over 190 stores in 15 different states on the East coast.
