'Wonder Woman' movie update: Rumored to arrive in 2017, shooting to start this November already?
Superhero movies are all the rage nowadays. It's a trend that seems to never go out of style. And as "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is approaching, fans can't help but steer their attention to the beautiful Gal Gadot who will be playing as Wonder Woman in the upcoming film. Now, fans are wondering if a standalone movie for the female superhero is in the works already.
According to Movie Web, rumors about the "Wonder Woman" film being underway is true. In fact, shooting and production will commence this November already. This report was confirmed by the producer herself, Deborah Snyder, who is also the wife of "Dawn of Justice's" director Zack Snyder. She divulged the details during a talk at the Geena Davis Institute that was just recently held.
Snyder said that the movie will be directed by Patty Jenkins, whom she believes has the "right vision and the same vision" that they have for the character. "We're really happy that we're going to be going into production in November, it's been a really great process. We've tried to hire as many female members of the crew as possible," said Snyder.
With regards to the plot, IGN reported that the first standalone film may take Wonder Woman back in time. Some sources say that it may be as far as World War I, although there were rumors before that the storyline will be set during the Crimean War, which may make sense since Wonder Woman or Diana Prince served as a war nurse in her early comics. If the rumors are true, fans will have to wait and see how things will work out with a World War I setting.
Gal Gadot is set to star in "Wonder Woman" together with Chris Pine as Steve Trevor. After her debut in "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice," she will reprise her role in "Justice League Part One" in November 2017. Her solo film is said to be released on June 23, 2017, reports Superhero Hype.
