'Wonder Woman' Footage Unveiled at CinemaCon 2017 Features Ares, Lasso of Truth
"Wonder Woman" is set to hit theaters in a few months and it looks like fans will be in for a huge treat when it arrives. At the recently concluded CinemaCon 2017, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films unveiled new footage from the upcoming DC movie, featuring Ares (David Thewlis) and the Lasso of Truth.
One of the scenes in the said footage features Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and Diana (Gal Gadot) sailing towards London. In their conversation, Diana tells Steve that she has decided to leave Themyscira so she can find the God of War, Ares. She tells Steve that Ares might be the one behind World War I and is the one provoking the Germans to fight. However, Steve does not seem to listen as he is preoccupied with the concept of marriage.
In another scene, a pickpocket confronts Diana on the streets of London, pushing the female superhero to get back into action. This is where she uses her Lasso of Truth and her gauntlets to fight the thief.
One part of the footage also features two of the villains in the film, General Ludendorff (Danny Huston) and Dr. Maru (Elena Anaya). In the scene, both of them seem to be on the side of the Germans and plan on unleashing toxic gas on their enemies so they could win the war. The scene also shows Ludendorff gobbling up a mysterious drink.
While the footage offers a glimpse of General Ludendorff and Dr. Maru, it does not reveal the main antagonist of the film. It also keeps the major details about Wonder Woman under wraps, as it only features some of the events from the time she leaves Themyscira to the time she arrives in London.
"Wonder Woman" tells the story of an Amazon princess who saves a U.S. Army captain in Themyscira and sets out to end World War I. The film is set to hit theaters on June 2.
