World Alliance of Reformed Churches General and Mid Conferences Slated
Delegates from 200 congregations and 100 nations to gather for 24th general council this July
International leaders to the World Alliance of Reformed Churches plans to meet near St Albans this month to produce a worldwide faith stance for approval at their General Council in Accra, Ghana, in July. The Feb 8-11 conference will help leaders better contact with other world communions, interfaith communities and social movements.
The Church of Scotland (Kirk) minister and convener of Ecumenical Relations and national co-ordinator of industrial chaplaincy, Rev Erik Cramb Dundee, will speak on behalf of the Kirk about strong relationships with trade unionists that can build up over time.
"When we make new relationships," Rev. Cramb will say, "part of it is a preparedness to share in some things we're not particularly comfortable with; part is a preparedness to share the journey with some people who make us uncomfortable. The balance between compromise and integrity is always a difficult one and to cope with it, we have to have some sort of confidence in what we believe ourselves or we can get swept away."

Cramb also said that he will warn delegates that the task for unity will not come easily.
According to Cramb, there are many people in other communions, faiths and social movements who would join conference members in struggling to "remove the chains of oppression and the yoke of injustice and let the oppressed go free."
The 24th general council of the WARC will be guided by the theme "That All may have Life in Fullness" (John 10.10). Delegations from over 200 congregational, Presbyterian, Reformed, and United churches in more than 100 countries will gather for 14 days, beginning July 30th to promote unity within Christ.
