World Kindness Day Today: 5 Ways to Celebrate

People across the globe are doing good deeds in commemoration of World Kindness Day on Wednesday.

The event takes place each year on Nov. 13 and is the force behind inspiring people to practice compassion and keep spreading it to others, according to the website for the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation.

In an ever-changing world with so much access to people via social media outlets, it is important to stay positive. This year on World Kindness Day, many participants are making a point to take to Facebook and Twitter with uplifting comments and quotes, among countless other ways to celebrate.

Furthermore, public figures are also hailing World Kindness Day, some even without knowing it.

For example, Jennifer Lawrence walked the red carpet at the world premiere of "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" this week when she displayed a shining act of kindness.

The 23-year-old actress noticed a crying female fan in a wheel chair, clearly upset during the event. Instead of moving along the red carpet before dozens of photographers, Lawrence stepped through the security barricade to comfort the young girl.

This year, The Christian Post has compiled five fun ways to participate in World Kindness Day today, and possibly every day.

1. Say a morning, afternoon, or evening greeting to three people you pass today.
2. Pick up and throw away a piece of litter found outside.
3. Send a card or a handwritten note to someone you care about today.
4. Compliment the next three people you see.
5. Find an uplifting quote and post it to Facebook or Twitter on World Kindness Day.

On Twitter, users are already consciously trying to spread light and love, including one post that read, "When you are kind to others, it not only changes you, it changes the world. –Harold Kushner #quote #WorldKindnessDay"
