'World of Final Fantasy' News: 'Final Fantasy XII's' Balthier Coming to the Game as DLC
Balthier will be released for 'World of Final Fantasy' together with an upcoming patch
The debonair Balthier was one of the more memorable characters featured in "Final Fantasy XII," and fans will be able to see if his charm will translate now that he is set to be added to "World of Final Fantasy."
Notably, Balthier will look a little different once he is added to the game as a free downloadable.
Instead of looking just like he did in "Final Fantasy XII," the new version of Balthier has been stylized to look similar to the Lilikins that inhabit the world of the game, meaning he's smaller this time around and also possesses a head that is not quite proportional to his body.
It's also unclear exactly how Balthier will attack enemies inside the game, though given that the teaser image of him has him sporting a gun, that may end up being his weapon of choice.
Similar to other "Final Fantasy" heroes and heroines featured in titles past and who are also included in "World of Final Fantasy," Balthier will be serving as a Champion Summon. What this means is that while Balthier may not be fighting alongside protagonists Reynn and Lann as another playable character, gamers may still be able to call on him whenever they need some help taking down a formidable foe.
For now, there is still no known release date for when Balthier may be officially added to the game, though players can count on him being made available together with Patch 1.03, Gematsu reported.
In related news, Sora from the "Kingdom Hearts" series was also released as a free downloadable content item for the role-playing game back in January. Players who have not downloaded Sora yet, can still acquire him as a free addition until March 31.
More news about the Balthier add-on and other features coming to "World of Final Fantasy" should be made available soon.
