World Vision commissions new CEO
World Vision Australia (WVA) commissioned Tim Costello as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on Tuesday 16th March at Crossway Baptist Church, Burwood, Victoria.
Over 400 guests were in attendance at the ceremony to witness this significant occasion in WVA's history. A popular choice among staff at WVA, Tim received a warm reception from his new colleagues and tributes from friend and WVA Board Member Simon McKeon and Alan Marr, Director of Ministry for the Baptist Union of Victoria.
Simon and Alan spoke about Tim's passion, his willingness to serve the poor in an international context and what a great man of God he is to guide World Vision Australia into the future. They spoke of Tim's friendship and the great contribution he has made to the Baptist community and to the organization, which he founded, Urban Seed.

Peter King, Chairman of the Board WVA, provided a statement of acceptance and officiated Tim's commissioning service. Peter spoke of his thankfulness at Tim's appointment, his vision for WVA and his trust in Tim to bring compassion and leadership to the role of CEO. Peter invited Tim to sign the official commissioning documentation.
To officially recognize Tim as the new CEO of WVA individuals were invited to present a symbolic gift as indications of support, including the WVA vision statement symbolizing the vision of the organization and a photo of a child symbolizing the people we serve.
Tim ended the commissioning service with a warm presentation referencing Luke 10:25-37. Tim confirmed his passion to help the poor, his willingness to inform the community about the development work overseas and he thanked his family and friends for enabling him to take up this new opportunity.
Tim affirmed his commitment to his role as CEO by reciting the WVA vision statement: 'Our vision for every child, life in all its fullness. Our prayer for every heart, the will to make it so'.
