World Vision UK Calls for Environmentally Friendly Christmas
The U.K. branch of one of the largest Christian relief and development organizations in the world has launched an appeal to make Christmas more environmentally friendly and to help those in need in Africa with giant Christmas cards.
Buying one Christmas card for friends and colleagues not only cuts out the fuss of sending dozens of Christmas cards but helps the environment too, stated World Vision UK as it launched its Alternative Christmas Card campaign for the third consecutive year.
The international agency is taking requests for packs, and is calling on all Christians to encourage all co-workers in offices, schools and churches to use it to send Christmas greetings to one another, as well as making a small donation equivalent to the amount of money saved on individual cards.
All money raised by World Vision in the campaign will go towards various projects operated by the relief agency in Africa.
World Vision explained that the giant card is big enough for over fifty signatures, or can even be used on both sides for lengthier greetings.
According to World Visions Ally Jenkins, The Alternative Christmas Card is a great idea for people who work together, go to school together or attend church together and the money you save on buying all those individual cards goes to a great cause.
It takes all the hassle out of writing individual Christmas cards, Jenkins added.
The pack, which contains a giant card, a colorful self-adhesive label for a jar or tin, a poster describing the work the money is going towards, can be ordered by contacting World Vision. The last date to order is Nov. 23.
