WrestleMania 32 News: The Rock Is Coming to Texas
WrestleMania 32 is still several months away, but fans are already pumped up, especially with news that The Rock will be there. However, fans should not expect too much, especially if they're looking forward to Johnson competing in a match.
On Monday, Dec. 28, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson announced via Instagram that he will be in Dallas for WWE's annual wrestling pay-per-view event. Johnson uploaded a video with the following caption on the social network:
"IT'S OFFICIAL: People's Champ is coming home to do 3 things with THE PEOPLE: Set an ALL-TIME attendance record, ELECTRIFY Dallas like never before & make all time #WRESTLEMANIA history. And we have FUN. Ok that's four things but you know what the hell The Rock's sayin'.. . THANK YOU #WWEUniverse! It's always an honor coming home and I wouldn't miss it for the world. #PeoplesChamp4L #MakingElectrifyingHistory #SmackethLaidDownOnThyCandyAsses"
Yes, The Rock is definitely coming to WrestleMania 32, but Alfred Konuwa of House Money Studios warns fans to "temper their expectations" about the People's Champ doing any full-blown matches during the event. What's confirmed, though, is that he will be making an appearance as he did in the past two WrestleMania events. This year, The Rock made a surprise appearance at WrestleMania 31 in San Jose alongside UFC's Ronda Rousey.
Still The Rock's appearance is certainly good news for WWE as he has a proven record of boosting buy rate for the show, explains Konuwa. The Rock hosted WrestleMania 27, and it saw a 30 percent increase in buy rate from the previous PPV event. He was in the main event at WrestleMania 28 and that show had the highest PPV buy rate in WWE history. He was also in the main event at WrestleMania 29, which grossed $12.3 million and broke records as the highest-grossing event in WWE history.
Nothing is confirmed as of the moment regarding matches that will take place during the event. WrestleMania 32 is scheduled on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
