WWE 2016 Rumors and Updates Bill Goldberg Return Happening Soon? Possible Comeback at Clash of Champions

Of all the names making rounds in WWE's rumor mill this year, the biggest is Bill Goldberg. The superstar had been a legendary icon in sports entertainment, and at the ripe age of 49, he still keeps himself in good shape.

More than his physical fitness, his choice to appear on the WWE 2K17 video game and his recent antics tease more than just a virtual return into the ring. Goldberg might be stomping once again into WWE's main event matchups, in what would be his final run with the company.

Goldberg had laid out a confusing pattern to follow for wrestling pundits and the WWE Universe over the past month. It started with him deciding to join the WWE 2K17 roster as a playable legend. His character would be made available with the pre-order package of the game.

This decision puzzled hardcore wrestling fans and experts, who started theorizing about Goldberg's return. If he is working with the company again, he may be beginning to mend ties with it, and a possible in-ring return for the former WCW and WWE world champion could be in the works.

The anticipation peaked when Goldberg himself said his relationship with Triple H and WWE had been making progress. An insider source even revealed that "the wheels are in motion" between him and the company over talks of a returning run.

He would not have a forced, abrupt comeback either, as a resurrection of a classic feud is being teased of late.

The Beast Incarnate

Goldberg and Brock Lesnar are not strangers to each other. The two had a feud more than 12 years ago, wherein two of the most dominant superstars in the WWE ring collided for a WrestleMania match. However, both men were reportedly leaving at the time, and were booed by fans during their confrontation. The match ended with guest referee Stone Cold Steve Austin delivering the Stunner on both men, effectively ending both their first stints with the company.

Lesnar had since returned to WWE, immediately solidifying his place on top of the food chain. He had held the WWE Championship and brought a lot of big names to the Suplex City.

That said, a revived feud with Lesnar might be the angle Goldberg takes should he return to the company, having had an exchange of taunts with The Beast Incarnate. While Lesnar called Goldberg out with the latter's signature "You're Next" line, Goldberg responded by ripping a Lesnar shirt and blowing his nose on it.

The most exciting rumor is that Goldberg could make an appearance as early as the Clash of Champions PPV. He had teased in a video that he would be in Indianapolis on the same date the PPV will take place in the same city. Should he return or not, the legend behind the 173-0 WCW win streak could still make a comeback for fans at WrestleMania 33—either as a competitor of a Hall-of-Famer.
