'WWE 2K16' DLC: Future Stars Pack Now Available, But PS4, Xbox One Universe Mode Users Advised Not to Download It

In the world of 2K Sports' wrestling game, five new characters have been added. 2K Sports has released "WWE 2K16's" Future Stars DLC, but the publisher doesn't advise PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners to download it just yet.

'WWE 2K16' DLC: Future Stars Pack

Making good on its promise, 2K Sports released the "WWE 2K16" Future Stars DLC on Tuesday, Jan. 26, to the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. It costs $7.99 when bought on its own but is free for Season Pass holders.

The new expansion pack adds five more playable characters to the game, namely Samoa Joe and the two tag teams Los Matadores (Diego and Fernando) and Blake and Murphy. Fans can see them in action in the video below.

As mentioned, the Future Stars Pack is included in the "WWE 2K16" Season Pass. Costing $24.99, it saves players more than 20 percent as against buying the DLCs included in the Season Pass separately. The Season Pass contains four more expansion packs, namely Accelerator, New Moves Pack, Legends Pack, and 2015 Hall of Fame Showcase.

As the Future Stars Pack is now available, it is expected that the 2015 Hall of Fame Showcase will release soon.

Universe Mode and Season Pass issues

Unfortunately, what should have been a good day for "WWE 2K16" players turned sour. Within hours after the Future Stars Pack became available, many players reported issues concerning the game's Universe Mode and Season Pass purchases.

Season Pass holders, who should be able to download the DLC for free, were prompted to pay for the expansion pack's full price of $7.99.

Responding to a forum member asking for updates regarding this particular issue, a 2K Sports staff said the issue has been sent along and that they're currently working with Sony to sort things out. 2K hopes to fix the issue "ASAP."

"WWE 2K16" players also took to social media and forums to air their complaints regarding how the new DLC has affected the game's Universe Mode. Players have reported that after installing the Future Stars Pack, all data in their Universe Mode was reset. This means previous customizations, storylines, and tag teams built become obsolete.

"We're aware of an issue some users are experiencing with Universe Mode save data connected to the Future Stars Pack DLC," 2K said. "After initial investigation, we've found this issue only affects PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 users will not experience this issue. If you are an active Universe Mode player on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, we recommend waiting to download the Future Stars Pack until we fully investigate and resolve the issue. Thank you for your patience."

This is the second year in a row that the "WWE 2K" series faced issues regarding saved game data. There's no update yet if these issues have been fixed as of press time.
