'WWE 2K18' News: Devs Tease the New Backstage Areas Players can Explore
Players will also have more things to do and characters to interact with backstage while in MyCAREER mode
Wrestling matches can turn into chaotic affairs in a hurry. And sometimes, all that action cannot be contained in the ring. In "WWE 2K18," even if the action spills over to backstage, players do not have to worry, as they will have more than a few areas available to them that can serve as impromptu battlegrounds.
A new video previewed some of the backstage areas that were made accessible to players.
The new video featured cover athlete Seth Rollins and Cesaro engaged in a sprawling brawl that took place across several rooms.
Among the areas Rollins and Cesaro passed were the locker rooms, the hallways, some offices (including one that appeared to be occupied by Triple H), the parking lot and even the catering area.
Each area looked like it will come with specific items players can interact with. These items may turn an otherwise ordinary backstage brawl into a spectacular show of physicality and ingenuity.
It is unclear how many other backstage areas will be made available for "WWE 2K18" players to fight in.
Beyond just serving as more places for wrestlers to fight in, the backstage areas are also important in other ways inside the upcoming game.
MyCAREER mode players in particular will likely find themselves spending a lot of time backstage in-between matches.
Detailed in a recent post on the game's official website, the backstage area in MyCAREER mode is now populated by different characters, including fellow wrestlers, legends and even general managers.
Players can also engage in a variety of activities while backstage, such as participate in an interview or even launch a surprise attack on another superstar.
The most meaningful wrestling moments may still take place in the ring, but in the upcoming game, the events that take place backstage will be worth paying attention to as well.
"WWE 2K18" is set to be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Oct. 17, while it will be available for the Nintendo Switch sometime during this fall.
