'WWE 2K18' News: What Wrestling Fans can Expect From Eight-Person Matches
Switch version of 'WWE 2K18' will not support eight characters appearing onscreen simultaneously
Eight-person matches frequently become chaotic spectacles in the WWE, where the wrestlers involved do their best to shine. Now, wrestling fans can put together their own eight-person matches inside "WWE 2K18."
There may be some fans out there wondering why it even took the developers this long to finally offer eight-person matches, and creative director Lynell Jinks provided an answer to that during a recent interview with GameSpot.
According to Jinks, the advancements present in the game have finally allowed them to "create a cohesive eight-man match without things just blowing up."
Furthermore, the revamped graphics engine has also made it possible for eight characters to appear on screen at the same time without the frame rate suffering because of it.
There are several variations of eight-person matches that will be featured in "WWE 2K18."
Detailed in an earlier post on the game's official website, it will now be possible for players to take part in straight up eight-man matches or step things up a bit by adding a ladder to the equation. Players can also group themselves into teams of four.
If those eight-person matches were not chaotic enough for wrestling fans, they can then go ahead and check out what Battle Royals will be like with that many wrestlers involved.
The Royal Rumble match will also support eight wrestlers working inside the ring at the same time.
Notably, these eight-person matches will also be featured in Universe Mode.
Unfortunately, not all versions of the upcoming wrestling game will feature eight-person matches.
A separate post on the game's official website noted that the Nintendo Switch version of the game will only be able to support six characters appearing onscreen at the same time.
"WWE 2K18" is set to be released for the PC, PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One on Oct. 17, while the Switch version is due out sometime this fall.
