WWE Battleground Results: Key Match Ends in Surprise While Underdogs Rule the Night
Last night's WWE Battleground left the organization shaken after an unexpected visit by one of the WWE Superstars. Who came away a winner and who lost it all? Read on to find out.
The main event featured Daniel Bryan against Randy Orton for the WWE Championship, which had been held after a grueling decision by Triple H. Both men were hungry to retain the title, which they claimed was theirs and came out fighting last night. However, just as Bryan got Orton into a submission move, the Big Show made a grand entrance and knocked out the referee, then delivered his signature KO Punch to Bryan.
Big Show was apparently ordered to do so in order to guarantee Orton the win, but in a change of pace, he delivered the KO Punch to Orton as well. Both Orton and Bryan were completely knocked out and the match ended without a winner, once again leaving the WWE Championship up for grabs and fans wondering if the Big Show still has a job.
C.M. Punk defeated arch-nemesis Ryback and, in effect, his former manager Paul Heyman, who did everything he could to distract Punk and guarantee Ryback the win.
In another match, Cody Rhodes and his brother, Goldust took on two members of The Shield, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. The stakes were high: if Rhodes and Goldust were successful, they would earn their jobs at the WWE back; if they lost, they would never have a chance at working for the WWE and their father, American Dream Dusty Rhodes would also lose his job.
The brothers worked hard to put away members of The Shield and get their jobs back and protect the Rhodes family name; of course, The Shield was relentless and showed no mercy or sympathy towards the brothers. In the end, however, Cody and Goldust were able to work together effectively to win their jobs back and guarantee their father's safety in the organization as well. For them, it was a huge night and one to celebrate.
