WWE News: Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho Duo Ends; One Sent to the Hospital
In a sudden turn of events, best friends Kevin Owens, known as KO, and Chris Jericho, known as Y2J, had their friendship ending in a literally painful break-up that sent one of them to the hospital.
As things start to build up for the World Wrestling Entertainment's biggest events in the coming months, everything is beginning to go on an interesting twist and turn just as expected.
On Monday, WWE featured the Festival of Friendship event featuring KO and Y2J. The event started out pretty well with Y2J presenting a good amount of unique and expensive gifts such as a painting, sculpture, and a clown that all intended to manifest his loyalty and friendship for KO.
KO was understandably caught off guard with the nature of Y2J's gifts but the latter tried to make up for it with another pun.
All of a sudden, Goldberg's entrance theme music played in the arena. However, it was not the real Goldberg who came out. Y2J brought out Gillberg, the man the WWE used to prank Goldberg with back when he was still fighting in the World Championship Wrestling stage.
After the spoof, Y2J called KO his brother and reiterated that he will help him defeat Goldberg at the Fastlane main event. However, the latter is not having any of it. Things took a bad turn when it was KO's turn to bring out his gift for Jericho.
KO imitated Jericho's "list" that contains the names of the people who Y2J does not like. However, KO's version contained only one name and it was Chris Jericho's.
A few seconds later, Owens attacked Jericho with his signature powerbomb, threw him out of the ring and slammed Y2J hard to the barricade.
Not having enough, Owens smashed Jericho's head into the Jeritron that had glass panels which left Y2J in the ring bleeding. Jericho was later on placed on a stretcher and brought to the hospital.
As it turned out, KO had an earlier secret conversation with Triple H and reports are assuming that the behind-the-camera talk was what made Owens decide to split from Jericho and hurt him that bad.
KO is set to defend his WWE Universal Champion title against Goldberg at the Fastlane main event on March 5 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
