WWE News: Ric Flair Says Company Execs Wanted Shawn Michaels As Part Of Royal Rumble; 'Iron' Mike Sharpe Passes Away

World Wrestling Entertainment veteran Ric Flair says top management had wanted a fellow legend of his to be a part of the 2016 Royal Rumble.

In his very own podcast entitled "WOOOO! Nation" on Play.it, the "Nature Boy" spoke to superstar Chris Jericho about how the WWE would want "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels to be part of the 30-man match.

The 2016 Royal Rumble is slated to take place on January 24 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. According to the 66-year-old Flair, the WWE's top management "wants Shawn so bad" to appear in the said event, however, he does not think Michaels would be leaving his current life to make the said appearance.

"Shawn ain't gonna budge," Flair said. "They want Shawn so bad for the Royal Rumble, right, and he's not coming off that ranch in Abilene for anything, man."

Currently, Michaels is residing in his ranch in Abilene, Texas. He is also the host of the Outdoor Channel's "MacMillan River Adventures". According to the show's official website, MRA has garnered several awards, including the 2011 Golden Moose Award for "Best Conversation" featured in their episode entitled "Wolf Episode."

It has also been nominated for five other Golden Moose Awards, including Best Series.

Michaels retired from professional wrestling in 2010, after losing to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 26, in agreement to the match's stipulation. He has made various appearances afterwards, his most recent one in a major event being WrestleMania 31 in 2015, where he interfered in a match between Sting and Triple H.

Meanwhile, veteran professional wrestler "Iron" Mike Sharpe has passed away. In a report by WWE.com, the 64-year-old Canadian sports entertainment star died on Sunday in his home in Ontario, Canada, due to still unknown causes.

Sharpe entered the WWE in 1983, where he was an active wrestler until his retirement in 1995. One of his most notable appearances was in 1984, where he teamed up with Hulk Hogan against superstars of New Japan Pro Wrestling.
