WWE News: WWE Performance Center shook by deranged individual
A man caused fear as he stayed around the WWE premises.
Monday was a dark event for professional wrestling and fans of the sport as it is reported that a man was shot near a WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
According to reports, the man was in the area as he was trying to reach a female wrestler, with many people classifying him as "fixated" on his target.
His run-in with the law resulted in a gunshot that required surgery. According to Sheriff Jerry Demings, the wound he obtained was life-threatening.
Both the targeted wrestler and the 29-year-old man were not named by the arresting officers but the officers went on to describe what happened in the incident.
According to reports made by the Orange County sheriff, there was a call made around 1:30 PM about a commotion within the area.
WWE staff went on by saying that the man who was around the Performance Center had a weapon in hand – that he "had some type of knife."
When two officers responded, one was attacked by the suspect, resulting in the need to defend themselves from the man.
Demings explained what happened between the attacker and the officers, saying: "The officer was running backward trying to create distance between he and the subject, and ultimately the subject closes within just a few feet of him. And he fired the shot."
The man was shot by Cpl. Stevel Wahl, and the suspect has long had issues with the law – with arrests stemming from robbery, battery and trespassing.
With the female wrestler, there is a court order filed against the suspect but it has not been served yet.
Paul Levesque, known as "Triple H", is a wrestler and an executive president of the WWE. He released a statement through his Twitter profile.
He said: "Unfortunately a deranged individual with no WWE affiliation, who had a court order prohibiting him from being on WWE property was involved in an incident with an Orange County Sherriff's deputy in the parking lot of the WWE Performance Center. We defer to the Orange County Sheriff's department for further comment and information."
