WWE Shane McMahon Health Update: 'SmackDown' Commissioner Suffers Neck Trauma, Fractured Ribs and Dislocated Shoulder

Shane McMahon plunged 20 feet off the top of WWE's "Hell in a Cell" cage, hoping to land on an outstretched Kevin Owens. WWE has the latest update on his condition, which includes some neck injuries and broken ribs when the "SmackDown Live" commissioner landed on a table.

McMahon paid dearly for that insane stunt during the pay per view event on Sunday, Oct. 8, in Detroit, as a statement from the WWE show. In the latest medical bulletin on the part-time wrestler's condition, the most recent preliminary findings show that McMahon will be out of commission for some time.

Early reports have determined that McMahon will have to recover from a spate of injuries, most of which he took when he landed on the announcers' table last weekend. His tally of hurts includes "neck trauma," as well as multiple fractured ribs and a dislocated shoulder on top of those.

These early reports still await confirmation as of this time, with more word from WWE expected as the situation develops.

Overall, there's been a sizable toll of injuries by the time that "Hell in a Cell" 2017 wrapped up this past weekend. Some wrestlers who got beat up in the course of the PPV event include McMahon's opponent Owens himself, as well as Xavier Woods, the Big E, and both Jimmy and Jey Uso, according to Cageside Seats.

It would not be the first time a WWE star took the shortcut from the cage top to the arena floor, as Lad Bible recalls. Other wrestlers have tried it before, with varying results, starting with Shawn Michaels who pioneered the stunt. There's Mick Foley who took the dive about four times, then Rikishi, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Sasha Banks.

The video below shows the highlights of WWE's latest "Hell in a Cell" event, which resulted in Shane McMahon being carried out of the arena on a stretcher. More information is expected on his recovery in the coming days.
