'X-Files' Mini-Series News: Finale To Reveal Scully As An Immortal?

The truth Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) have constantly been in search for may finally be brought to light in the final episode of "The X-Files."

This assumption about the truth being brought to light may not be a far cry at all if the photos released by Fox are to be the basis, according to the International Business Times. After all, the stills of the mini-series which show Mulder and Scully joining forces with Agents Miller (Robbie Amell) and Einstein (Lauren Ambrose) as they try to avert a disease seem to suggest so.

The source also noted that the trailer for the finale seems to be indicative that the cure to the disease is in Scully's blood after all. Furthermore, part of the synopsis for the upcoming finale goes:

"… A widespread panic begins as people all over the country suddenly start falling gravely ill, and Scully must look within to try and find a cure. Meanwhile, Mulder confronts the man whom he believes to be behind it all, but another figure from Mulder and Scully's past may prove to be the key to their salvation in the all-new 'My Struggle II' Season Finale episode of 'The X-Files.'"

Meanwhile, one of the persistent speculations about Scully's being is that she is actually an immortal. In fact, the character herself hinted at the possibility on the show's third episode. If the assumption of the International Business Times report that the cure for the life-threatening disease may actually be found in Scully's blood is true, then the finale episode, which airs on Feb. 22, may just confirm this.

Earlier, in his interview with the Huffington Post, "X-Files" creator Chris Carter said that the idea had already been suggested, but for the viewers to know the truth behind Scully's being, they have to wait for the finale episode, which he described to be huge and a cliffhanger.

"It wouldn't be 'The X-Files' if it didn't end on a cliffhanger," Carter said, according to another IBT report.
