'X-Force' Movie Latest News: 'Daredevil' Showrunner Will Write Film on Deadpool-Led Crew
The upcoming "X-Force" movie will be written by "Daredevil" showrunner Drew Goddard.
Recently, it has been confirmed that Fox has enlisted Goddard "to write and direct" the upcoming X-Force movie that will bring together several Marvel characters led by the well-loved anti-hero Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and his partner Cable (Josh Brolin), according to reports.
Aside from his work on the "Daredevil" series, Goddard has also made a name for himself by writing other successful films such as "The Martian" which gave him an Oscar nomination.
Other titles that Goddard has worked on and would certainly ring a bell include "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel," "Alias," "Lost," "Cloverfield," "The Cabin in the Woods," "World War Z," and more.
Meanwhile, Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner, who have both been working for a long time on the entire X-Men franchise, as well as Reynolds and Stan Lee, will all take producer roles.
In the comic books, X-Force was first known as the New Mutants – a group rooted to the X-Men but is distinct for its more rebellious approach in tackling the bad guys.
When the New Mutants were disbanded, Cable made the effort to bring them back together. Those who agreed became part of the group X-Force. In the print version, fans had always known Cable to be its alpha.
However, it is highly expected that Deadpool will become the focal point in the movie adaptation of X-Force,. considering that he, among other members of group, were the first ones to have his movie debut and that made him more familiar to a lot of audience.
Other X-teams usually do their job of protecting people in a reactive manner – meaning, the action normally starts when evil mutants are on the move. On the other hand, Cable and his team agree to employ a different approach. In a way, they track down evil mutants before they can even start wreaking havoc.
In the comic books, X-Force first consisted of Cannonball, Boom-Boom, Warpath, Shatterstar, Domino (Zazie Beetz), and Feral.
Meanwhile, Cable and Domino are going to debut in the upcoming "Deadpool" sequel movie that will premiere on June 1, 2018.
