'X-Men: Apocalypse' Writer Says Film Will Focus More on 'First Class' Cast
"X-Men: Days of Future Past" writer Simon Kinberg recently discussed his plans for the 2016 "Apocalypse" sequel and how it will focus more on the "First Class" cast.
The next installment will feature some actors from the original cast, but will mostly use the new team formed in the 2011 "First Class" movie.
"[Apocalypse] will focus primarily on the First Class cast," he said during an interview with The Daily Beast. "But it will certainly have some of the original cast involved too."

Kinberg also discussed his plan for the original cast in "Days of Future Past" in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
"We approached it as a final goodbye for the original actors," he said. "But to be totally candid, that's the way I approached 'X-Men: The Last Stand.' If you talked to me in 2006 and said, 'Do you think we'll ever see Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier again? Do you think we'll see Ian and Halle and Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore back on screen together?' I most likely would have said no, and certainly in the case of Patrick Stewart I would have said no way. There's some part of our brains that hopes we will see them again, but we wanted to tell a story that felt like it was a conclusion to their stories."
This news may disappoint X-Men fans who were hoping to see the cast from the first three films play a major role in the "Apocalypse" movie. With the film set to take place in the '80s, there's no telling what direction it will go in in terms of cast and characters.
Fans should probably consider seeing the most popular characters return-- Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, James McAvoy as Professor X and Michael Fassbender as Magneto-- in the next film.
