'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Trailer Shows Rift Between Xavier and Magneto (VIDEO)

A new trailer released for the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past film reveals the damage created by the rift between Charles Xavier and Magneto.

It also discusses the reason behind Xavier losing his ability to walk. Wolverine makes an appearance and plays referee between the two super powerful mutants, who are about to fight while flying on a plane. The pilot appears to be Hank McCoy, also known as Beast.

X-Men: Days of Future Past takes place before and after the events of most of the previous X-Men films as it functions as a time traveling epic that follows the infamous arc from the comics.

Various characters who haven't been seen since the third X-Men film are expected to make a return in this movie. The list includes Rogue, Storm, Colossus and the older versions of Magneto and Xavier.

Wolverine will also play a huge role in "Days" as his character will travel from the current time to the past in order to correct a huge error that caused a mutant apocalypse in his day.

X-Men from the "First Class" film will also be a part of this epic as Havoc, and Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique will star in it. There is no word on Rebecca Romijn's version of the blue shape-shifter making an appearance.

The comic book version of Days of Future past hit shelves in 1981 and focuses on X-Men mutant Kitty Pryde who is sent back in time by transferring her mind into her younger self. Her then-future 2013 self must go back to the '80s to change an event that turned the U.S. into a hunting ground that persecutes mutants with Sentinels.

There have been other adaptations of this story in the '90s animated series.
