Xbox 720 and PS4 to Revolutionize Social Interaction Experience? Multiplayer, Cross-Platform Features Touted
A major games developer has suggested that single player titles for future consoles such as the Xbox 720 and PS4 will be on a major decline in coming years.
According to the developers of the Wipeout series of racing games, the focus in future years will be towards offering multiplayer games, particularly those that focus on social interaction with other gamers.
Graeme Ackers, a developer at Studio Liverpool, told Eurogamer: "Affecting your mate's single-player career could be something really fun to do, and something we're going to look at to do. You don't want to switch on your console and fall out of your social sphere, and I think that's going to become one of the big things."

Ackers added, "I think in five, 10 years from now it's going to be really challenging for anyone to do a successful game that isolates the player."
However, the exciting future for the world of gaming will not stop there, as Ackers believes that in the future there will be a lot more cross-platform features available for users. Everything will be geared towards increasing the social experience of gaming, he believes.
"I'd love to be playing on the PS3 but my daughter could have the Vita and be doing stuff, and interacting in the same game world. There are definite possibilities in there, and I think developers will start taking more advantage of it in time," Ackers added.
The Xbox 720 is expected to have a 2013 release date and it has been predicted by analysts that it could be made available for just $100 with a contract. It could be released as a dual console and cable TV box in a launch that is likely to revolutionize the console and gaming industry.
The current Xbox 360 has led the console market for more than four years now, however, declining sales are indicating that it may be due a revamp, and the name Xbox 720 has been touted. With the market endlessly changing, it has now been highlighted that Microsoft could be about to change the console market forever.
Wdbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter has reported that he believes Microsoft's Xbox 720 will feature as both a console and a cable box, allowing the console to be purchased for the relatively low price of $100 along with a standard Cable TV contract.
Pachter has said, "Console will have to be multiple purpose devices, though. The Xbox 720, this is my prediction, is going to be your television as well [as your game console]. You'll be able to tune into television through it," according to INC Gamers.
