Xbox One Backwards Compatibility News and Updates: Four New Titles Announced; Includes 'Jurassic Park,' 'Dragon's Lair,' and More

The Xbox One game library just continues to grow through time with the new additions to the Backwards Compatibility program. Microsoft had recently announced that they will be adding four new games to the game roster.

Xbox One Backwards Compatibility

Undoubtedly, the Xbox One has become one of the most well received gaming consoles currently available. However, when it was released back in 2013, there was no native support for backwards compatibility. This was caused a huge outrage from the customers who originally owned the very capable Xbox 360. The games they bought back then for the Xbox 360 would have been no longer usable in the new gaming console.

It was only two years later that Microsoft finally addressed the issue and announced that the Xbox One will be updated to support games originally playable through the Xbox 360. Fast forward to today, the latest flagship gaming console from the company now supports over 250 games under the backwards compatibility program. Just recently, the company had added four more games to the list.

Four New Backwards Compatible Games

Larry Hryb, the Director of Programming for Xbox Live, tweeted about the four new games released for the Xbox One.

First in the list is "Jurassic Park: The Game." This was originally introduced back in 2012, and was obviously a follow-up to the even more popular movie franchise. Players will now get the chance to step in to the world of Jurassic Park, get chased by dinosaurs, and virtually save the day in this video game.

Next up is "Battlestations: Midway" which had been available since 2010. This action game will immerse the players in the middle of a Pacific battle. The war ensues air, sea, and undersea battles that will be taking advantage of the new Xbox One features. Control battleships, aircrafts, submersibles, and other war vehicles to claim victory.

"Dragon's Lair" was then introduced back in 2012. The beloved arcade game makes its way to the Xbox One to let players enjoy a casual yet exciting gaming experience. It could also be paired with the Kinect controller for a more immersive experience. Per usual, players will take on the character of the valiant knight whose ultimate mission is to save the princess.

Lastly, there's the "Tour de France 2011." This famous cycling game is the second installment in the franchise. It contains all the official teams that compete in the real life cycle race, with an option to either partake in the full Tour de France course or do races on single stages. Unfortunately, this game is not available for the US region.
