Xbox One Digital Game Prices to Be Slashed, Microsoft Exploring Offering Titles for Cheaper
Microsoft plans to experiment with lower prices for its digital games for the Xbox One console.
"Lot of people asked for better deals on our digital marketplace, so we're testing some," said Microsoft studio manager Mike Ybarra.
The first of these titles to receive a significant price cut will be Ryse: Son of Rome. From Feb. 18 until Feb. 24 the Games on Demand version of it will be available for $39.99 with more discounts set to roll out for add-ons between Feb. 25 and Feb. 27.

A DLC titled Mars' Chosen Pack is scheduled to launch on Feb. 28 and will include new maps, a new character skin, and a new co-operative Survival mode.
Ybarra ended his tweet by comparing the company's new digital game price cuts to GameStop.
"That's far better than the used price at GameStop and others! Go digitial," he said.
Microsoft first announced that it was considering slashing prices on Xbox One games that are purchased through its online network in digital format towards the end of last month.
The company's Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrd stated that Xbox Live's digital prices might be revised in a Reddit thread where users were complaining about those versions costing more than physical copies.
"We are way aware of this and many of the concerns of the community," he said while stating that competitive pricing is on the agenda.
Microsoft received a good amount of criticism when it announced its decision to raise the price of Xbox One digital titles in December of last year in the U.K. That eventually lead to these new discounts being discussed and now implemented into the company's online market. Sony could also follow suit with games on the PlayStation network.
