X-Box One Headset Not Included With Console: Kinect Microphone a Cheaper Option?
The Xbox One will not be packaged with a gaming headset despite Microsoft taking major efforts to show off its capabilities at E3.
An official statement from Microsoft said:
"Xbox One does not include a pack-in headset accessory. Each Xbox One includes the new Kinect sensor, with a highly sensitive multi-array microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences. For gamers who prefer a headset, we have a variety of offerings that you can find on the Xbox Wire."
The console's headset is reportedly able to filter out television noise along with picking up even the quietist commands from around the room.
Gamers without an Xbox will be able to have online chats through the Kinect feature and its microphone.
Arstechnica reports although the price is unknown for the accessory, similar third party headsets are around $200.
Also, Xbox 360 will not be usable for the Xbox One. However, video game company Turtle Beach, will be developing a special cable to be backwards compatible.
Microsoft announced Xbox Music will be released next week and will aim to be the new Spotify.
According to Engadget the service is called music.xbox.com and will be launching with a completely new layout online. It was previously available for Xbox 360, Windows 8, RT, and Windows Phone 8 as just a feature on the device.
The Verge reports the website will be similar to how Spotify operates with playlist options and an array of music at the users disposal.
