Xbox One Kinect Voice Commands Now All Available on Microsoft Tumblr (LINK)
Microsoft has posted a list of voice commands for the Xbox One Kinect on their Tumblr account for all of the gamers who are trying to figure out how to properly get their console to do what they want it to.
The list has over 30 commands on it ranging anywhere from "Xbox On," to Skype functions, and changing the channel on cable. Sometimes the Kinect has a tough time responding to the person's voice. This can be due to a number of factors, but more than likely it because the noise in the room is giving it a hard time distinguishing who is talking. Microsoft suggests re-calibrating the audio in the settings menu.
Another hint the company offers is pausing when addressing the Xbox so it knows the user is speaking to it rather than having a conversation. For example: "Xbox...turn off," will get it to comply. When speaking in general, "Waiting for my Xbox to turn off," it might not grab the attention of the console.
Saying "Xbox" will bring up a menu listing the most common voice shortcuts. Say, "More Shortcuts" and another menu will come up. Saying, "Xbox Select," will turn everything on the screen that can be understood by the Kinect green.
Kinect will learn to distinguish between all of the users of the console and load up the proper start screen for the person who boots up the console. Xbox One is in a way always on, and ready to pop up at the simple "Hello Xbox." See the full list of spoken commands for the Kinect here.
The Xbox One was released November 22, and is being heralded as a multi-purpose entertainment machine that does much more than gaming.
Once set up, the Microsoft console will become the sole entertainment center. The cable, TV, and pretty much everything else that uses an HDMI cable can be connected and run through the Xbox One. Also, once hooked up, the Kinect allows all the apps to be run on voice command, even the TV.
According to NBC News, Xbox One is able to tailor the cable/satellite programming to the users' specifics to only watch and view programming "you care about." Xbox only does this when commanded though, otherwise the regular remote works.
