'Xenoblade Chronicles 2' News: Raiko the Rare Blade With an Affinity for Lightning Revealed

Raiko's weapon of choice in the game appears to be a hammer

Rare Blade reveals have been provided quite frequently by the developers of "Xenoblade Chronicles 2," and there is a new one for prospective players to check out.

This time around, the Rare Blade revealed is one known as Raiko.

Raiko is not the most imposing character, but fans should not allow that to trick them into thinking she is anything less than a fierce combatant.

The newest Rare Blade was shown wielding what looked to be an oversized hammer, though that may just be one of the things she uses to defeat enemies.

The brief preview video released for Raiko featured her seemingly summoning and then subsequently getting struck by a bolt of lightning. However, instead of being damaged, she looked to have gained strength.

Combine her huge hammer-wielding skills with her apparent affinity with lightning, it certainly appears as though Raiko will be an interesting and potentially very powerful Rare Blade inside "Xenoblade Chronicles 2."

As noted earlier, Raiko is far from the first Rare Blade to be introduced by the developers.

The Xenoblade Wiki has listed which Rare Blades have been revealed thus far.

There is the Rare Blade Azami, who will be using an enormous gun and calls upon the power of shadows to overwhelm the enemies she encounters.

Vasara similarly has an affinity for the shadow element, but he chooses to complement that with his sword-fighting skills.

Hotaru is a stone-type Rare Blade who has opted to use a unique-looking ball as her weapon.

The elemental affinities of Kubira and Uka are unknown, though developers showed the former wielding a weapon that closely resembled a polearm, while the latter was equipped with a pair of gauntlets.

More news about any other Rare Blades or other types of characters coming to the game should be revealed soon.

"Xenoblade Chronicles 2" is set to be released for the Nintendo Switch on Dec. 1.
