Xiaomi Mi 4 Specs: Device Will Have Windows 10 Mobile Version

Chinese electronics company Xiaomi has recently announced that their smartphone Mi 4 will be getting a Windows 10 variant. According to NDTV Gadgets, the company will release the Windows 10 Mobile software for Mi 4 on Dec. 3 in China.

The announcement was made by Xiaomi president and co-founder Lin Bin through his Weibo page. Along with it, he posted an image showing the handset running Windows 10. Microsoft and Xiaomi publicized the partnership a few months ago and now it's really happening. Tech Radar India noted that perhaps Microsoft was just waiting for the release of its new range of Windows 10 smartphones before releasing the final version of the ROM to Xiaomi.

Those who own the Mi 4 will be able to get hold of the software as it will be made compatible to all handsets that are presently in operation. Users will just have to wait for the company to detail the instructions on how to install it on the device.

Xiaomi and Microsoft also partnered back in March to test the latest mobile software among select Xiaomi Mi 4 power users in China. "Through a new program with Xiaomi, one of the top smartphone distributors in the world, a select group of Xiaomi Mi 4 power users will be invited to help test Windows 10 and contribute to its future release later this year", the company had stated in a blog post.

The Mi 4 is not the first Xiaomi device to carry the Windows 10 Mobile as the newly announced Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 also has a version that supports Windows 10 out of the box. In terms of the specs, a separate report from NDTV Gadgets detailed that Mi 4 has a 5-inch touchscreen display and a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920.

It will be equipped with a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. Other specs include a 16 GB internal storage, 13-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel front camera.
