Xiaomi Redmi 2 Release Date: New Android Midranger Hits Singapore, Only Costs $122
Xiaomi is slowly taking over the entire Southeast Asian region with its super affordable but high quality smartphones. The latest member of its arsenal that will hit the market is the Redmi 2.
According to a report by GSM Arena, the Android-powered smartphone has just arrived in Singapore and costs just S$169 or about $122.

In case you missed its unveiling a couple of months ago, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 packs a 4.3-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, 1GB of RAM and an 8GB built-in memory.
In the report, while the 720p resolution may not be high-end, the Redmi 2 managed to do a great job in GSM Arena's sunlight legibility test.
Other specs include an 8MP primary camera that boasts an LED flash, and a 2MP front shooter that can record 720p clips. Powering the device is a 2,200mAh battery that should be enough for everyday computing, calls and connectivity.
In the connectivity department, the device supports Cat.4 LTE networks, which enable the Redmi 2 to reach download speeds of up to 150mbps.
Meanwhile, there are also two SIM slots for the device, both of which can be activated simultaneously, or otherwise known as "dual-standby."
In the report, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 will be available for orders beginning noontime on March 17, although the only option is the white edition.
In addition, the 2GB RAM and 16GB storage combo will not be available yet in Singapore.
Xiaomi has not had the habit of releasing its smartphones internationally outside of Asia, so U.S. and EU consumers may not have access to them.
