Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 was expected, but fans were greeted with a pleasant surprise in the form of the newly released Redmi Note 2 Prime on August 13. Not surprisingly, this new device is now being pitted against new large-screen smartphones including the iPhone 6, according to Jewo City.

The Redmi Note 2 Prime is a more advanced version of the Redmi Note 2. The former has a 2.2-gigahertz chip, 2 GB RAM, and 32 GB storage. The new phone, which has a 5.5-inch full-HD display, is available in 16 GB and 32 GB variants, iDigital Times reports.

The new Xiaomi phone boasts of a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera, plus a 3,060 mAh removable battery. The device, which runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop, has GPS, WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity. The Redmi Note 2 Prime costs $155.

The iPhone 6 definitely has a smaller screen, which measures 4.7 inches in height. It has an A8 chip, 1 GB RAM, and 16 GB to 128 GB storage. The Apple device boasts of an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front camera, Techno Buffalo states.

However, the iPhone 6 wins a bit over the Redmi Note 2 Prime because it has NFC connectivity, which its Xiaomi competitor lacks. Other iPhone 6 features that are not available in Redmi Note 2 Prime include Touch ID Fingerprint Scanner, Voice over LTE, and WiFi calling. The Apple device costs around $649.

With its higher midrange specs and very affordable price, the Redmi Note 2 Prime appears to be a worthy competitor for the iPhone 6.
