Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Specs, Release Date: Purported Handset Getting Flagship-Grade Features?

It appears that Xiaomi is working on another bezel-less heavyweight believed to be the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, which stars in a new batch of leaked renders.

The images shared by 91mobiles reveal the device will keep its signature metal unibody, but will make some changes that will help the midrange lineup keep up even with the flagship competition.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will apparently come with a dual camera setup, making it the first from the Redmi Note line to boast the feature.

With all Redmi devices considered, however, the purported handset is only second to offer this beefed up imaging department with the Xiaomi Redmi Pro from last year beating the device to it.

The cameras of the purported Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 are reportedly a 16-megapixel and 5MP combo arranged vertically. Sitting just below them is the LED flash and directly underneath is a fingerprint scanner.

Based on the renders, the next-generation Redmi is also joining the growing league of bezel-less mobile offerings with the sides made ultra-thin and the forehead and chin significantly slimmer as well.

The 3.5mm headphone jack is spotted on the top portion of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 with an IR blaster also in sight. At the bottom of the device lies a USB Type-C port.

With the renders yet to be corroborated, users are advised to take them with a grain of salt. But if they are anything to go by, the leaks paint a picture of what the Chinese company has planned for the product series.

With the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 shaving off its bezels and offering two cameras on the rear, it is looking more and more like Xiaomi is bringing these supposed flagship features to its budget-friendly offerings as well.

As for the rest of the specs, previous reports hint that the smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 660 processors assisted by 3 GB to 4 GB of random access memory (RAM) and 32 GB to 64 GB of storage.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will keep the lights on with a 3,790 mAh battery that comes with QuickCharge 3.0 support.
