'Yakuza Kiwami 2' News: 2 New Trailers Showcase Remake's New Features and Gameplay

Sega has dropped two new trailers for its upcoming action-adventure video game, "Yakuza Kiwami 2," which is set for a December release in Japan.

"Yakuza Kiwami 2" is the remake of "Yakuza 2," and though there is still no news regarding its debut in North American or European market, players are hoping it will be soon.

Sega released the videos via its official Japanese YouTube channel, and according to Video Gamer, those who are familiar with the characters in "Yakuza 0" or "Yakuza Kiwami" will be able to recognize some of faces in the teasers. These include Kiryu Kazama, Goro Majima and several members of the Tojo Clan.

Both promos reportedly showcase more details about the game's storyline and gameplay. PlayStation Lifestyle reported that the first one contains spoilers on the plot, and some of the scenes are said to be those memorable ones from the original game but presented with a more modern vibe. The second trailer, on the other hand, features the new and improved features of the remake. There are also a few key pointers in combat being offered and a look at some of the mini games included.

Sega has confirmed that "Yakuza Kiwami 2" will be using the Dragon Engine from the "Yakuza 6." Gamers are hoping that some issues regarding the game design from "Yakuza Kiwami" have already been addressed. PlayStation Lifestyle pointed out that the series has never been great when it comes to aesthetics. In "Yakuza Kiwami," for instance, there was reportedly a car shootout scene that could have been more exciting if the design was on point. Still, the HD remake of the first Yakuza game was deemed a complete success and definitely more playable than the PS2 original.

"Yakuza Kiwami 2" is scheduled for release in Japan on Dec. 7 and will be exclusively available for the PlayStation 4. Sega is also set to debut "Yakuza 6: The Song of Life" in the United States next year.
