Gospel singer Yolanda Adams shared her entrepreneurial advice with fans at the 2016 Essence Festival during the Money and Power Expo on faith-based entrepreneurship last weekend.

Revealing a few of her insights about hiring the right people to help manage finances, Adams said: "Hire a qualified CPA. Not BoBo with a certificate from wherever. [Things] can change over six months of time, or three months or two years. What you did two years ago, you may not be able to get credit for, or you may be able to get more credit."

Adams has made a name for herself as being the first woman in gospel music to have a morning radio show. Although the syndicated "The Yolanda Adams Morning Show" did not have its contract renewed this year, she previously spoke about the honor of being able to aquire the decade long job on her business terms.

"I really love helping people and that is my job with the morning show. My job is to let everyone know that they can make it, they don't have to live their lives in defeat," Adams told The Christian Post in an interview back in 2014. "Whatever they speak out of their mouth they get, whether it's good or whether it's bad. Now we're coming up on 10 years and it was an answer to a prayer because as a single mother I wanted to be home most of the week so I could give my full attention to my daughter."

The singer also has a clothing line called The Yolanda Adams Collection, and authored the book, Points of Power: Discover a Spirit-Filled Life of Joy and Purpose. She has also formulated her own line of bath and body products called Simply Yolanda that she formulated with the help of chemists.

Last year, Adams spoke at the 10th Annual Women in Business Luncheon in Georgia. At the event, Adams shared advice that she learned from her father whom she called her first business mentor.

"He'd say, 'God has made you to where you have so much potential on the inside of you, you will never be able to use all of it if you live three lifetimes,'" she said, according to Clayton News Daily. "And so, I took that to heart. ... Don't ever think that your journey is not worth it, because somebody's watching you."
