'Yooka-Laylee' Release Date, News: Exclusive T-Shirts Begin Shipping to Backers

Playtonic Games' 3D platformer "Yooka-Laylee" owes its very development and existence to the loyal backers who believed the title is going to be great, and so far despite not being officially out yet, it is met with high anticipation. And so, as part of the deal and to show its appreciation, exclusive T-shirts have begun shipping to respective patrons.

Per the game's official website, the "Insert Coin" T-shirts have started to be distributed worldwide since March 6. The concept brings a twinge of nostalgia to arcade games, which the title has via its local multiplayer mode, and of course with Yooka and Laylee at the front.

To ensure that every eligible backer gets the promised merchandise, they are reminded to ensure that their addresses are filled up correctly until today, March 9. Those who are expecting to get them and wishes to make changes to where it is to be shipped can do so in this link here.

For those who are wondering, individuals who can get this limited edition T-shirt are those who pledged £55 (approximately $67) or more in the game's Kickstarter page, as the whole project was funded by avid gamers themselves. Aside from the shirt, the said backers also get at least the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game, an enhanced Toybox which gives a spoiler-free sneak peek into the world of "Yooka-Laylee," and a lot more.

The game can be considered as one of the massively successful titles ever funded by Kickstarter. It only required £175,000 (over $210,000) to start production, yet the overwhelming support of the community gave it a total of £2,090,104 (more than $2.5 million) pledges from 73,206 backers, showing how much interest is placed in the 3D platformer.

"Yooka-Laylee" swings onto PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox One and PC platforms on April 11, 2017, while a Nintendo Switch launch can be expected within this year.
