'Yooka-Laylee' Release Date, News: Latest Trailer Reveals a Winter Wonderland Stage

Playtonic Games' 3D platformer, "Yooka-Laylee," is arguably one of the most-awaited indie games in the market that is set to arrive in 2017. Aside from the fact that it commands the nostalgic feel of classic jump-and-dash exploration games, the myriad of worlds it introduces is visually tantalizing, including the newest one Playtonic revealed.

In the newest trailer for the title, a snowcapped stage named Glitterglaze Glacier is teased to avid followers. It depicts a frozen paradise that begs to be explored with various heights, underwater levels and darkness-filled caverns. In this teaser, Yooka and Laylee are also seen transformed into a truck in order to access other parts of the terrain, which could mean there are more transformations the duo can achieve.

This isn't the only world that "Yooka-Laylee" has teased. Before the Glitterglaze Glacier, a casino-themed stage appropriately named Capital Cashino was also introduced. In this other environment, the cute characters are seen traversing an oversized terrain with roulettes, slot machines, forbidden levels and more.

It doesn't stop there. Previously, it has also been revealed that it will also cater to local multiplayer mode through Rextro's Arcade. Gamers can decide to play with others or even compete against the leaderboard. With many stages to choose from, it certainly promises to bring hours and hours of gameplay either alone or with friends.

After all is said and done, the biggest request of fans is to finally confirm the title for the upcoming Nintendo Switch, and this has finally been granted during the Nindies Showcase last Feb. 28. This combination has been praised, as fans are saying the title is at home with the Nintendo brand, considering how both evoke nostalgia.

"Yooka-Laylee" is currently slated for release on PlayStation 4 (PS4), Xbox One and PC platforms on April 11, 2017, while a Nintendo Switch launch can be expected within the year.
