What does it take to have a heart of a champion? Over 100 students and athletes from the Tri-State area will have that answer at a weekend retreat in West Virginia early next year.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be hosting its annual Heart of a Champion retreat in the national capital area, gathering students from 80 different high school huddles throughout Northern Virginia, Western Maryland, Metro Maryland, Washington, D.C., and other areas. With the theme "Heart of a Champion! Do you have it?" the two-day meeting will be held on the first weekend of the New Year, Jan. 7-8.
Held at the Concord Center, this upcoming year's retreat will feature speaker Greg Huntington, who played for Penn State, the Chicago Bears and the Washington Redskins. Huntington will be revealing the secrets of building a winning team, addressing both coaches and athletes.
As other speakers are also scheduled to share their strengths to having a heart of a champion, student participants will have the opportunity to compete, be challenged and have fellowship with fellow FCA groups.
Heart of a Champion Conferences are held regionally nationwide. The "Heart of a Champion" emphasizes the heart as the core of a student or athlete, where all the desires, passions, will and character are born. Student athletes are called to become competitors in their hearts as the heart drives them to be who they are.
