'Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Washio Sumi Chapter' Air Date, Spoilers: Second Season Begins with Six-Part Prequel Film Series
The anime television series format of the prequel film series, "Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Washio Sumi Chapter" is premiering in October.
The film series, which was shown in three parts, "Friends," "Souls," and "Promise," between March 18 and July 8 of this year, will air as a six-episode series during the fall anime season. The episodes are based on the light novel, "Washio Sumi Is a Hero," which was serialized in Dengeki G's Magazine in 2014. The series was written by Takahiro and illustrated by BUNBUN.
The story is set two years before the events in "Yuki Yuna Is a Hero" but in a similar setting. It features three main characters, Sumi Washio, Sonoko Nogi, and Gin Minowa being selected as Heroes tasked to fight against the villainous life-forms known as the Vertexes.

Slight differences between the anime series and the movies may be seen, just as there were some significant differences between the book and the film adaptation.
The six-episode "Washio Sumi Chapter" will comprise only the first half of the sophomore season of "Yuki Yuna Is a Hero." The "Yusha no Shou (Hero Chapter)" is expected to follow afterward.
"Hero Chapter" continues the story of Yuki from the first series.
Japanese singer and anime voice actress, Suzuko Mimori, is set to perform the opening theme. Titled "Egao no Kimi he (To the Smiling You)," the song is also the eighth solo single of Mimori, who also does the voice of Washio Sumi.
"Yuki Yuna is a Hero: Washio Sumi Chapter" premieres on Friday, Oct. 6, late night 1:55 a.m. JST on MBS and TBS. It will also air on AT-X beginning on Monday, Oct. 9, at 10 p.m. JST. Information on other broadcast schedules and online resources can be found on the series' official site.
