'Z Nation' Season 2 Spoilers: Z Weed Effect Still to Be Known, Murphy is Going to Be a Daddy

Another episode of "Z Nation" has passed and the post-apocalyptic TV series is getting messier than ever. Well, it's a zombie show so it's never really been less messy. But the "Batch 47" episode which aired last Oct. 2 led Murphy (Keith Allan) and Cassandra (Pisay Pao) to a man named Odegard (Dileep Rao), who runs the rumored lab in Minneapolis that was said to have a potential cure made from a plant called Batch 47.

But the problem is that all of the samples of Batch 47 are inside a greenhouse labyrinth that's being watched over by a new kind of plant/zombie hybrid. So Murphy and Operation Bite Mark tries to harvest as much as they could. But Murphy's zombie-mind control powers can only do so little. Examiner noted that since Murphy has been smoking the Z-Weed, he seems to be losing his control over the zombies. He has also lost his bravery and ran out of the greenhouse, leaving others to die.

A lot happened in between including the return of Dr. Kurian (Donald Corren) and the appearance of a mob called "Zeros". Before the end of the episode, Murphy and Cassandra have been separated again. Yibada detailed that "finding and smoking Z Weed brings a little of the old Cassandra back while her relationship with Murphy is a little strange." But as noticed, Cassandra is totally relying on Murphy and the Z Weed seems to be beneficial to her. The true effect of the Z Weed on zombies has not been known yet but it may be revealed soon.

The episode ended with a major cliffhanger as Operation Bite Mark comes across a pregnant woman who turns out to be Serena (Sara Coates). And she has brought with her a surprising news—she's pregnant with Murphy's child.

The fifth episode of the second season will be titled "Zombaby" and the promo video teased Serena giving birth to what seemed like not an ordinary baby. Doc, "The Kid" and even Murphy had expressions that were panic-stricken. What will the baby look like? That's a question to be answered next Friday, Oct. 9 on Syfy.
