Zainab Bibi Killed Husband to Protect Her Daughter
A wife in Pakistan is accused of killing her husband then dismembering the body and trying to cook him to reportedly prevent him having a physical relationship with her 17-year-old daughter.
Zainabi Bibi, 32, was taken into police custody in the Shah Faisal colony that lies in the southern city of Karachi when neighbors began to complain about a strong, foul odor emanating from the Bibi’s home.
Zaheer Ahmed, 22, who is her nephew, is also charged with helping stab and dismember Ahmad Abbas' body. Police said Bibi wanted to cut up the body into small pieces and cook them so as not to be caught, according to CNN.
"It occurred to me that if I cooked the body in parts, with spices and aromatic ingredients that would curb the stench,” said Bibi to ARY News.
Pakistan's domestic satellite channel ARY News spoke to Bibi in the police station where she is being held in the southern city of Karachi.
In an interview broadcasted Thursday, she claimed to have killed her husband because he wanted a physical relationship with their daughter and said she did not regret her actions.
"I killed my husband before he dared to touch my daughter," she told ARY News.
Police in the area of Nadeem Baig said they recovered a bowl of her husband's flesh that Bibli was planning to cook, as well as the knife used to kill him.
Investigations are still occurring, but police have suggested that she drugged and killed her husband after he raped her daughter from a previous marriage and was planning to have a sexual relationship with their daughter.
According to an IB Times report, Bibi was quoted in The Express Tribune as saying from prison: "When he finally died, I felt shudders of fear for the first time. I didn't have the courage to approach his body for the next half an hour.”
