Zara Phillips Wedding: Kate Middleton Makes Low-Key Appearance in Gold Outfit (PHOTOS)
While Zara Phillips said her wedding vows to England rugby champion Mike Tindall in an ivory silk and duchess satin gown by Stewart Parvin, Kate Middleton was seen in a muted gold brocade coat and gold lace dress that she has worn on other occasions.
The Duchess of Cambridge, known for her low-key yet keen fashion styles, had worn the same coat to the May 2010 wedding of Mel Nicholson and Oli Baker at St. Andrews and previously to the 2006 wedding of Laura Parker Bowles and Harry Lopes.
On Saturday, Middleton also recycled the same pale gold lace dress that she donned to the 2006 wedding, as well as to a 2007 book signing for Simon Sebag Montefiore’s Young Stalin that she attended with her sister Pippa Middleton.
The lace dress is thought to be the design of Collette Dinnegan, according to whatkatewore.com, a website that follows the various ensembles worn by Middleton.
Other pieces that Middleton paired with her pale gold ensemble included nude pumps, clutch, and diamond drop earrings - all of which she has worn before.
The only part of her outfit thought to be new was her ivory floral hat, which she wore tilted to the right side of her head.
Middleton was accompanied at the wedding by Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge.
Many fashion bloggers noted how Kate Middleton's choice for wedding attire sent a clear message that she didn't want to upstage Phillips on her Big Day.
Phillips, the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth, finished off her bridal dress with Jimmy Choo shoes and a diamond tiara she borrowed from her mother Princess Anne.
The wedding ceremony was held at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, Scotland.
